Regional forum for social and economic policy: UNLOCKING THE POTENTIAL OF INCLUSIVE GROWTH AT THE LOCAL LEVEL
Oct. 24, 2019
CELSI together with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung organised regional Forum EU11 on 24 – 25 October 2019
The Forum addressed the topic of how to better facilitate inclusive growth at the local level via broadening traditional social dialogue and interaction of various stakeholders in the labour market - including firms, employees and trade unions, central and local governments, the non-profit sector and stakeholders in the education system.
While EU-level and national level strategies emphasise the importance of inclusive growth, the potential for unlocking this process needs to embrace local-level initiatives and a pluralistic dialogue between all of the above stakeholders representing different interests within society.
More than 50 participants from 11 EU countries gathered in Bratislava to share ideas on how to boost cooperation and regional social dialogue. Successful practices of the role of social partners in such collaboration from Lithuania, Georgia and Sweden were presented, and transferability to other countries was assessed. The panel discussion, consisting of Anton Marcinčin (Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic), Victoria Stoiciu (Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Romania) and Jozef Středula (Czech-Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions) brought innovative and provocative ideas on how to address the current and upcoming challenges to assure inclusive growth.
